As Christians, being a good steward is a way we honor God. Stewardship takes on many forms: stewarding our time, talents, gifts, and finances in such a way to further His kingdom in an honoring way. Stewardship is not only an act of obedience, but it is a form of worship that is God honoring. 

 

     1 Peter 4:10 tells us, "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." We each have been given a 'spiritual' gift to steward. We are told to use it to serve one another, and if we do that we strengthen God's family and further His works here on earth. 

 

     God put forth a challenge too us, there is one place in the Bible that He says 'test' Me. Malachi 3:8-10. God says if we hold back our tithes and contributions that we are robbing Him. He tells us to bring the whole tithe to Him and test Him, thereby, He will open the storehouse of Heaven for you and pour down blessings until there is no more need. That is exciting news to us all! If the creator of the universe says test Me and see if what I say is true...you can be sure it is true. God wants to use you, to bless you, but that is a two-way street. We need to show faith in Him and honor Him as well.

     God does not want you giving out of a sense of duty. He wants you to give with an open and joyful heart. He tells us, "whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

(Colossians 3:17)

 

     We at Lifeway Torrington want to see giving become a normal part of your worship life. As a church we thank you for your servant heart, and want you to know that as a church we strive to honor God and be good stewards as well with what He blesses the church with, and will use it to honor and glorify Him.
